  2. 02

Create an Account & Choose a Plan

After installation, click the Carrier Recruit icon in your toolbar to open the extension. You'll be prompted to create an account — enter your email and choose a password.

Once registered, select a plan. Basic ($9/mo) gives you daily extractions covering the last 10 business days of FMCSA registrations. Pro ($19/mo) unlocks up to 20 years of historical data and a higher monthly extraction limit. You can upgrade at any time.

  3. 03

    Navigate to FMCSA New Registrations

Go to https://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_menu.prc_menu in Chrome. On the FMCSA page, select FMCSA Register from the dropdown menu and click Go. This takes you to the new carrier registration list. You don't need to log in. Go to a date and click "HTML Detail".

  4. 04

    Extract, Filter & Export

With the FMCSA page open, click the Carrier Recruit icon. The extension scans the page and collects every carrier's MC number, company name, phone number, address, and carrier type. This takes a few seconds.

Use the filter panel to narrow down by carrier type (e.g., property-only, freight forwarder). When you're ready, click Export to CSV. The file downloads immediately — open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or your CRM to start reaching out.

Common Questions

Detailed answers about setup, usage, and your data.

Installation & Setup

Which browsers does Carrier Recruit support?

Carrier Recruit is a Chrome extension and requires Google Chrome (version 88 or later). It is not available for Firefox, Safari, Edge, or any other browser. If you need to use a different browser for other work, you can install Chrome alongside it and use Carrier Recruit exclusively in Chrome.

Where does the Carrier Recruit icon appear after installation?

After installation, the icon appears in Chrome's extension toolbar area (the puzzle-piece icon at the top-right of Chrome). If you don't see it immediately, click the puzzle-piece icon and pin Carrier Recruit to keep it visible in the toolbar at all times.

Do I need an account before I can use it?

Yes. You create your account directly inside the extension on first launch — no separate website signup required. Just click the icon, enter your email and a password, and you're in. From there, you can choose a plan and begin extracting immediately.

What is the difference between Basic and Pro?

Basic ($9/mo) is designed for dispatchers who want to work the current pipeline. It extracts from FMCSA's daily new registrations — up to the last 10 business days. Pro ($19/mo) adds access to up to 20 years of historical FMCSA carrier data, a higher monthly extraction limit, and priority support. If you're building a large prospecting list or want to back-fill older registrants, Pro is the right choice.

Using the Extension

How do I get to the FMCSA new registrations page?

Go to https://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_menu.prc_menu in Chrome. On that page, select FMCSA Register from the dropdown menu and click Go. This navigates you to the new carrier registration list. Click on a date and then click "HTML Detail".

What data fields does Carrier Recruit collect?

For each carrier, the extension collects: MC Number, legal company name, phone number, physical address (city, state), carrier type (e.g., property, freight forwarder, broker), and registration date. All of this is sourced directly from FMCSA's publicly accessible records.

How do the carrier type checkboxes work?

The extension includes checkboxes for three categories: Carrier, Broker, and Freight Forwarder. Check the types you want included in your results. The Carrier option specifically pulls carriers that are not marked as household goods — meaning they are generally freight carriers rather than moving companies. If a moving company does appear, it is because they are dual-registered. These checkboxes control what gets extracted.

How often should I run an extraction?

FMCSA publishes new carrier registrations every business day. Most users run an extraction once a day — either first thing in the morning or at the start of their prospecting block. If you miss a day or two, Basic covers the last 10 business days so you won't lose those leads. Pro users can go back much further to fill gaps.

What counts as an "extraction" toward my monthly limit?

Each time you click the Extract button in the extension, it counts as one extraction against your monthly limit, regardless of how many carriers are returned. Re-exporting data you've already exported counts as an additional extraction — only the initial pull from the FMCSA page consumes your limit.

Data & Exports

What format is the CSV export in?

The export is a standard comma-separated values (.csv) file with a header row. Columns include: MC Number, Company Name, Phone, City, State, Carrier Type, and Registration Date. It opens in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, or any spreadsheet tool. You can also import it directly into most CRMs that accept CSV uploads.

Is the FMCSA data legal to use for outreach?

Yes. FMCSA carrier registration data is publicly available government data. Carrier Recruit does not access private records, paid databases, or any non-public information — it organizes and exports the same records you could manually read on the FMCSA website.

Can I access historical carrier data older than 10 days?

Historical data beyond the last 10 business days is a Pro feature. With Pro, you can access up to 20 years of FMCSA carrier registration records. This is useful for building broad prospecting lists, targeting carriers that registered in specific time windows, or re-engaging older leads. You can upgrade to Pro at any time from within the extension.

How accurate is the phone number data?

Phone numbers are whatever the carrier provided to FMCSA at registration time. Most are cell phones or direct business numbers since FMCSA requires a working contact number during registration. Freshly registered carriers (last 10 days) tend to have the highest accuracy since the number is brand new to the FMCSA system.
